Mechanical permits are applied, reviewed, approved, and issued in the Building Division - Mechanical Section, Room 425, City Hall, between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. The office is closed on all City holidays.

Mechanical permits can be issued to either the Owner or the Mechanical Contractor, although it is the Owner's responsibility to obtain the mechanical permit and see that it is posted on the job site.

For the most part, mechanical permits are issued for residential buildings containing six (6) units or more and commercial buildings.

However, when a central air conditioner is installed in a private residence, the location of the condenser unit must comply with the requirements of the ordinance on the location of the unit and must be approved by the Mechanical Code Official. The unit cannot be placed in front of the building line. If the Owner has any questions about the placement of the condenser unit, call the Mechanical Equipment Section.
