Some of your time on jury service will be spent waiting as the parties, lawyers and judges work on the case. You may want to bring reading material with you. Jurors are permitted to bring cell phones and pagers to jury duty; however, they must turn them off while in the courtrooms. The Jury Assembly room phone number is (314) 622-4455. The clerks will know how to get a message to you. If an emergency arises, and you can not make it to court, you should call this number as well.

How are individuals summoned for jury service?

The Jury list is taken from names randomly selected from a list of registered voters and licensed drivers. A summons/questionnaire is mailed to each person whose name is drawn from the list. The questionnaires establish the eligibility of prospective jurors.

What if I need to postpone my jury service?

Jury Service is a duty of citizenship and will not be postponed except for good cause. Inconvenience or financial hardship to a prospective juror or an employer are not adequate reasons to be excused from jury duty.
