Two years ahead of schedule, the initial $86 million public/private capital campaign goal for the major first phase restoration of Forest Park has been met and surpassed by $6 million.

The City of St. Louis has raised $44.9 million in public, capital funds and Forest park Forever has raised $43.1 million in private capital funds and $4 million for the endowment fund.

The total of $92 million is the largest amount ever raised by a public/private partnership for an urban park anywhere in the country.

Forest Park Forever has pledged to raise an additional $5 million in capital funds for new projects and to increase the Forest Park TrustÐthe endowment for preservation and maintenance to $10 million from its current total of $4 million. Both goals will be achieved by 2004.
