Welcome to Union West Community Corporation

In 1987, a group of residents of the West End and Wells Goodfellow neighborhoods, concerned about decline in their neighborhood, came together for direct action. The immediate focus was opposition to the threatened blighting of the area. This area high proportion of homeowners, many of whom have lived in the area for a couple of generations. Churches, businesses, community groups, and services have thrived in the neighborhood.

Residents make all UWCC decisions. Fundamental to the planning and implementation of all UWCC programs is community involvement. Just as the corporation was formed by neighbors working with neighbors, so it will continue to draw its strength, direction and impetus from area residents. Neighborhood decision making will shape all projects from beginning to end.

MISSION

UWCC is committed to stabilizing and improving our neighborhood by rehabilitating housing, providing technical assistance to existing residents, building community participation, and creating and fostering job opportunities.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS

UWCC is most proud of its awards received over the past eight years during competition in the Missouri Community Better Contest.
