Celebrate Carondelet Park Day 2008

Learn About Recycling and other Community Friendly Opportunities

Want to learn how recycling benefits the local economy along with the environment?  The event will include a recycling fair that will have booths displaying recycling information and resources. Organizations slated to attend include:

  • A.L.I.V.E. (Alternatives to Living In Violent Environments), a non-profit organization that assists victims of domestic violence. ALIVE will be collecting cell phones and accessories at the park to benefit their clients.
  • Leftovers Etc., a non-profit organization that collects a huge variety of household items for use by teachers and group leaders for craft and science projects. Leftovers Director Sandy O'Dell will demonstrate the concept with a craft project for kids.
  • Missouri Department of Natural Resources will provide information on how to report environmental abuses.
  • City of St. Louis staffers from the Recycling Program will be on hand to discuss the curbside recycling program and other recycling initiatives.
  • ReStore, part of Habitat for Humanity, sells new and used building materials that would otherwise be discarded.
