What's So Special About Kings Oak

The Kings Oak neighborhood consists of approximately 80 charming homes nestled quietly in the geographic heart of St. Louis.

Homes in the Kings Oak neighborhood are well maintained. All of the homes are constructed of brick and nearly all are one and a half or two story single family homes.

The Kings Oak neighborhood was built just after the 1904 World's Fair. The Arts and Crafts and Dutch Colonial styles were very popular then and the neighborhood reflects that popularity. Detailed woodwork, art glass and decorative light fixtures reflect the special style. Large front porches adjoin most homes, allowing residents to enjoy a summer evening with friends.

The manageable size of the homes, along with their sturdiness make Kings Oak homes a excellent choice for young families and retirees. The diverse population of young and young at heart make the neighborhood a good place to play for the children. With only three residential streets, the children become friends quickly.

Within the boundaries of the Kings Oak neighborhood is St. Louis University High School. Since 1924, SLUH has been a prominent anchor the neighborhood. SLUH is an active member in Kings Oak activities and committed to the neighborhood's current and future stability. Young men come from all over the St. Louis area to benefit from the Jesuit teachings of SLUH.

Another anchor of the neighborhood is the St. Louis Science Center. A trip to the Science Center is always fun and informative for all. Free admission encourages all to go for a visit and learn something about just about everything!!The Science Center boasts many galleries, demonstrations, activities and the OmniMax theater.
