Neighborhoods Without a Web Site Coordinator |
THANK YOU St. Louis Neighborhood Web Fairs The Neighborhood Web Fair developed from the realization that more neighborhood involvement was necessary to achieve the goals of the Community Information Network. Certain neighborhoods needed encouragement, while others were eager to begin using the Web to enhance community interaction. The Web Fair aimed to help neighborhoods build home pages and to connect citizens through modern information technology. The first Neighborhood Web Fair took place on May 4, 1997 after months of planning. Hundreds of community residents collaborated with web developers and City officials to create over 50 neighborhood home pages. The Web Fairs continued through 2003. The Web Fair enabled many of the City's 79 neighborhoods to establish a Web presence which allowed them to tell the unique story of their neighborhood. Technological literacy increased, and City government and neighborhood residents strengthened cooperation. Many of the relationships built and maintained through the Web Fairs are still going strong today. Many neighborhoods currently have active web pages, however, others still need assistance. If you want to get involved, review the list of neighborhoods that need web site coordinators.
