Kennard Classical Junior Academy
Kennard Classical Junior Academy offers identified students up to grade five an environment that provides enrichment activities in all areas of study including creative problem solving and character education.
Besides core curriculum subjects, other course offerings include dance, Junior Great Books, computer science, drama, and math/science lab.
Creative problem solving, along with higher level thinking skills, are developed through instructional strategies that require analysis, evaluation, problem solving, divergent thinking, debates, research skills, character education, and thematic instruction.
The identified gifted students receive instruction from classroom teachers in a self-contained setting on a full-time basis, five days a week. The art, music, dance, computer lab, math/science lab, physical education, and language resource classes complete the instruction of these identified students.
There is a commitment on the part of the Kennard Classical Junior Academy staff to continually look at ways to become better at what we do. A concerted effort is always made to keep in mind the school district’s theme: "Whatever It Takes." "Children are the focus of all our efforts."
Initial and ongoing assessments provide a review of the program in terms of the desired direction, accomplishments, and improvement needed. The assessments revealed there was a need to further supplement the curriculum. After an in-depth look at the existing curriculum, it was decided that our students were capable of functioning at a level exceeding the current textbooks. Therefore, during the second semester of the 1996-97 school year, math was accelerated one grade level. Students were introduced to additional skills which will be needed to help bridge the one-year gap they will experience during the 1997-98 school year.

St. Joan of Arc Catholic School
St. Joan of Arc Catholic School, committed to the life and spirit of Jesus Christ, offers each student the opportunity to make choices to achieve his/her potential spiritually, morally, intellectually, emotionally, aesthetically, and physically. It is our intent that gospel values be learned and lived in community, and personified by service to others.
Our purpose is to provide academic excellence through instruction, discipline, and example. These experiences of learning and living stretch our knowledge of global awareness; challenge us to concentrate on the values of tolerance, acceptance, and care; and compel us to spread the seeds of social justice. The parish community, the family, faculty, staff, and students share the responsibility of their mission as educators of the whole person.
St. Joan of Arc offers its youth a challenge of Education for Service – Commitment to Personal Best.
St. Joan of Arc School opened on February 16, 1949, with a staff of three Sisters of Mercy and one lay teacher, and 175 students in kindergarten through grade 6. As enrollments grew throughout the 1950’s and 60’s, so did the staff and physical plant.
Today, St. Joan is a thriving parish school of approximately 460 students. Its all lay faculty includes the principal; seventeen homeroom teachers; specialists in the areas of physical education, music, art, and computer; a full-time Coordinator of Religious Education; a full-time Coordinator of Curriculum whose duties include providing enrichment activities for all grades and maintaining the school library; a full-time Learning Consultant who serves as an advocate for students who have special learning needs, as well as a resource and support for teachers and parents; and four teacher assistants. St. Joan of Arc parish is proud to provide a well-balanced and challenging curriculum to the children of the parish.
Students are encouraged to participate in a variety of extra curricular activities including Student Council, Bellarmine Speech League, math contests, Geography Bee, mission activities, CYC sports, and to serve their parish as Mass servers, lectors, and cantors.
Parent participation is encouraged through the Parent-Teacher Organization, School Board, Athletic Association, cafeteria volunteers, room parents, and school volunteers.
