A couple of years ago HUD gave the St. Louis Housing Authority $47 Million to do the Darst-Webbe URD/HOPE VI. The Housing Authority says the demolition will begin by April 1998. The old City and Malcolm Bliss hospitals will come down along with all the old ugly high-rises. In their place, we are promised, will be 525 mixed-income housing units, including 200 for low income families. There is talk of some commercial and/or office park development on our south end, along I-44. For more info. contact the St. Louis Housing Authority at 9314) 531-4770.
