Shaw's residents are a rich variety of people striving to appreciate each others differences. We are proud of our racially diverse, mixed-income neighborhood. New-comers from Africa, Asia, Europe, the Middle East, Latin America, and O'Fallon live together with long-time residents, young and old, differently abled, single, married, straight and gay.

Surrounded by parks and gardens, Shaw is the perfect neighborhood. Designated as an Historic District in 1985, it is bordered on the West by The Missouri Botanical Garden, on the south by Tower Grove Park, and on the East by the Compton Heights Water Tower. Bordering neighborhoods include Southwest Garden Neighborhood, McCree Town, Tiffany, Compton Heights, and Tower Grove East.
