Welcome to SNIA!

The democratically run Shaw Neighborhood Improvement Association (SNIA) has served the residents of the Shaw neighborhood since 1958. Bounded by Grand Blvd. on the east, Tower Grove Park on the south, Tower Grove Avenue on the west and I-44 on the north, Shaw houses 7,500 people in 3700 households.

The SNIA strengthens our community by keeping residents well informed through monthly meetings and a monthly newsletter, by maintaining a network of Block Captains and by providing a forum for the discussion of concerns. The SNIA promotes safety through its Citizen's Patrol, promotes the neighborhood by sponsoring the annual Historic Shaw Art Fair and the Historic Shaw Holiday Home Tour, and promotes preservation of our historic housing stock. A portion of the profits from the Art Fair is dispensed to the neighborhood schools and organizations which serve our children. The SNIA works to improve the quality of life for all residents of the Shaw neighborhood. Anyone and everyone can join the SNIA. We endeavor to be a welcoming and inclusive organization to all neighborhood residents.

The SNIA meets at 7 p.m. on the first Monday of the month in the basement of St. Margaret of Scotland Catholic Church located at 39th St. and Flad Avenue. In the event that the first Monday falls on a holiday, we meet the second Monday. You do not have to be a member to attend meetings.

Board of Directors (Block Captains) meetings are the third Monday of the month, unless there is a holiday, in which case they meet the fourth Monday, at Tyler Place Presbyterian Church, 2109 South Spring Avenue at Russell at 7 p.m. These meetings are also open to the public.

The SNIA maintains an office at 2211 South 39th Street, St. Louis, MO 63110. Our phone number at the office is 314-771-3101.
