The Mayor's Spirit of St. Louis Award was presented to Brown Associates and Gateway CDI for their roles in transforming a long vacant, 20-acre site at 20th and King Drive into the St. Louis Commerce Center at the Dr. Martin Luther King Business Park. The Commerce Center is the City's first federal brownfields pilot project. Balke Brown Associates constructed the $12 million Commerce Center that will result in 450,000 square feet of prime warehouse - distribution - light industrial space and create over 200 new jobs for the area. Gateway CDI's investment of $400,000 and relocation of 75 jobs as the first tenant, confirmed their commitment to and confidence in the City of St. Louis and the opportunities for business growth and prosperity.
