In recognition of Sigma-Aldrich's contribution to the City's revitalization of brownfields, the company was presented The Mayor's Spirit of St. Louis Award. Construction has begun on their new $57 million Life Science Technology Building and Learning Center on a 14 acre portion of the former Laclede Town public housing site. The state of the art research and development center will bring 150 new jobs to the City of St. Louis. Sigma-Aldrich is the world's leading supplier of fine chemicals, biochemicals, and reagents for laboratory and industrial use.
