Mayor's Spirit Of St. Louis Awards

SJI receives Spirit Award SJI Companies
June 21, 2000
Mayor Clarence Harmon presented the Mayor's Spirit of St. Louis Award to SJI Companies for its historic renovation of an old auto warehouse which had been vacant for 20 years, into an $8.5 million, 176,000 square-foot contemporary office/warehousing complex. Recognized as one of the 11 Most Enhanced Sites by the Landmarks Association of St. Louis, the building is now on the National Register of Historic Places. The renovation created a unique environment in the promotions industry by having creative offices and fulfillment warehouses under the same roof. The project was assisted with a $250,000 loan from the Local Development Company (LDC), the City of St. Louis; lending authority that provides low-interest loans to businesses seeking to locate or expand in the City. LDC is under the umbrella of the St. Louis Development Corporation.
