| Officer Dennis Dailey, Public Affairs Officer
for District One, mentioned an alley cleanup program he is coordinating for
the 1st, 2nd and 3rd police districts at the Newport Heights Neighborhood
Meeting on Thursday. Traffic violators (those with multiple speeding
tickets, parking tickets, etc.) are being offered sentencing options in
court: A large fine, or community service, consisting of alley cleanup
projects on the weekend. He mentioned that a lot of these folks choose
community service over a fine. The St. Louis Police Department provides
them with weed trimmers and garden tools, and an officer monitors the work
being done. Those volunteering for the program then trim weeds, collect
trash, and move bulk items to the side if they are blocking an alley. If
an item is particularly bad, they can call for a special bulk pickup for it
within a few days. If you have an alley you would liked cleaned, contact
Officer Dailey at the numbers listed below and he will have it placed on
his list. Officer Dennis Dailey: Public Affairs-1st District Phone: 314-444-0176 Voice Mail: 314-444-5420 Email: cop1219@aol.com Greg Gambaro MCIC 314-752-4303 |
