Tiffany Neighborhood Assessments
- It appears all of the assessment payments are in. Darrell has a series of letters that are going to go out February, March and April regarding the assessments.
- Letters to members current in their assessments (covenanted and uncovenanted property owners and tenants) thanking them for their timely payment and encouraging more participation.
- Letters to covenanted property owners who owe assessments asking them to pay and letting them know liens will be filed April 15 if not paid.
- Letters to uncovenanted property owners and tenants who paid last year but not this year thanking them for their previous involvement and asking for their continued participation.
- All letters will have a one sheet that addresses what the assessments mean to Tiffany and how they are used to fund our neighborhood activities.
Updates from Ford Management - Property at Lafayette & 39th Stree
- Staci Ford will be in attendance at the next meeting to discuss any additional questions or concerns residents have also
.
- On Thursday, March 6, Staci met with various police officials and agencies to discuss the ongoing nuisance issues at Lafayette/39th Street.
- The City is actively interested in assisting with these concerns because of the phenomenal growth in this area and wants to expedite improvements.
- An emergency order of condemnation was issued and the police assisted in removing the remaining 3 families.
- This condemnation assists in providing a "cooling off period" for the drug activity that has occurred for years at this building and assist workers in starting improvements in the building.
- Along with the condemnation there was an arrest and the seizure of drugs in one of the units that had been under surveillance by the STL Police Department.
- The City will assist in securing the building on Monday, March 10, 2008 while improvements are being made.
- The Police Department has assured us they would actively continue patrolling that corner and watch the building to ensure no one is illegally entering it.
- Please keep an eye out on the building and if you see anyone in or around the building contact the Police immediately.
Tiffany Movie Night in the Park
- Darrell had to give Frontyard Features a date for a movie night in the neighborhood in order to get on the calendar before the “good” dates are gone.
- For now Tiffany is on the calendar for Saturday, May 17.
- There is no fee to Frontyard Features as the Parks Department is picking up that expense
- We would need to pick the film we want shown and pay the licensing agent (Swank or Criterion).
- That fee would be no more than $250 and depends on the movie we pick.
- The movie would start at 8:30 or 9:00 due to lighting conditions.
Imagine Schools
- Darrell has left multiple messages for the Regional Director of the Imagine Schools to present to the Association at the February General Meeting.
- However there has been no return contact.
Sidewalk at 3642 McRee
- The sidewalk at 3642 McRee was scheduled to be poured February 1 but the snow prevented that.
- Depending on weather it will either be poured February 8 or February 15.
- Director apologized profusely that this fell through the cracks and said it is at the top of the list.
Police Sub-station for the TCA
- John and Darrell met with Public Affairs Officers McDowell and Sweaney at the Community Center and they are very interested in having a substation in our area but there are new regulations from when they worked with us before.
- At the least, we would need to change the lock on the exterior door to have an automatic closer and a key pad lock.
- To get maximum use we would need to make some serious changes to the Community Center.
- Provide opportunity for them to have a department computer there.
- This would require building a wall to create a private office for the police effectively cutting the kitchen room in half.
- We would also need to put full length bars on the two windows that would be in that room and the door to the office would need a closer and keypad lock.
- The computer would need at the minimum another phone line but DSL would be ideal.
- Building a wall would require moving the lights and adjusting the floor vents.
- The refrigerator is a big plus but they said we would see more use with a microwave and coffee maker.
- Thomas and Darrell have a microwave they would donate for the project.
- Due to the issues we had with the large coffee maker we have (they wouldn’t clean it out and the filter would get moldy), we might want to look at a pod coffee maker such at this one for $45.
- Coffee pods then run about $7 for 16 pods of Millstone.
- Officer Sweaney mentioned that the reason it saw so much use before was because Willy usually had food and drink there for them.
- She said we should consider that again if we want maximum use.
- Our park is pretty far from their central office so they felt that if we make it as usable and amenable as possible the officers would use it. However, the Department cannot guarantee use.
- We would have to make the renovations first then have Captain Caruso put his seal of approval on it.
- So there is the risk that we would do the renovations and be told no. There is also the possibility that we do it all, Caruso says yes and the department decides not to provide a computer.
- So, the question then becomes how far are we willing to go and how much are we willing to spend on the endeavor?
Tiffany 2008 Summer Program
- Darnetta has created some strategic plan updates and will draft a letter asking for funds from local companies to support the 2008 summer program.
- Darnetta has started getting addresses for all 85 local companies and will send out funding requests.
- Letters to those potential partners will go out mid-March.
Housing Conservation District for the Tiffany Neighborhood
- Alderpersons Davis and Roddy are in discussion on making the Tiffany Neighborhood a Housing Conservation District.
- As a result of the passage of the Housing Conservation District Legislation by the Board of Aldermen, inspections are required in Housing Conservation Districts:
- When there is a sale of a residential building; or
- When there is a change of tenant in a rental unit.
Tiffany Neighborhood Banners
- We have paid all invoices for the banner removal around the Tiffany Neighborhood
- Thanks to Paul Loewenstein and Lauren for donating money to pay for the removal of the remaining banners lining Grand.
- The new Tiffany banners will be installed in 2008 to help beautify the neighborhood.
