Tower Grove East Neighborhood Association Committees
The actual work towards neighborhood improvement is done at the
Committee level. All residents are encouraged to join at least one
committee that matches their interests and/or skills. Any level of
participation is appreciated. The greater the resident participation,
the more we can accomplish. Committees generally meet monthly at a
regularly scheduled time. Committee responsibilities include but are
not limited to:
Charitable and Community Outreach
Propose recipients for charitable contributions from TGENA.
Increase resident awareness of area program and resources through
community education and outreach.
Act as liaison to neighborhood schools, churches and non-profit organizations.
Commercial Development
Identify and inventory commercial property within neighborhood
boundaries.
Identify desirable types of businesses that the neighborhood will
support.
Initiate redevelopment plans for misused or vacant commercial properties.
Market available locations to Realtors and business development agencies.
Review and propose conditions of operation for new and expanding
businesses in TGE for recommendation to TGENA Board and various city
commissions.
Communicate the neighborhood's commercial development direction and
preferences to Alderpersons.
Act as liaison to such groups as SLDC, Grand South Grand Development
Corporation and Grand Tower Grove Betterment Corporation.
Housing Development
Identify and inventory neighborhood housing conditions.
Identify areas in need of redevelopment.
Research programs available at local, state and federal levels.
Develop long and short term redevelopment goals.
Identify and educate residents of programs promoting home ownership and
maintenance.
Act as liaison to groups such as DeSales Housing Corporation,
Neighborhood Housing Services and Alderpersons.
Communicate and promote TGE housing development direction and priorities.
Marketing
Develop programs to promote TGE as a great place to live, work and play.
Maintain and expand Web Site.
Publish Newsletter.
Create promotional literature.
Communicate with print and broadcast media.
Work with adjoining neighborhoods on joint marketing efforts for entire
Grand South Grand area.
Liaison to real estate community.
Neighborhood Beautification
Create a visually defined community through outward signs of continuity.
Encourage and coordinate clean-up and maintenance of public and
private property.
Create and maintain clean and safe public areas, such as community
gardens and other green spaces.
Act as liaison to such organizations as Gateway Greening, Operation
Brightside and Team Sweep.
Neighborhood Safety
Develop and coordinate programs relating to crime prevention, home
security and emergency preparedness.
Act as liaison to such groups as 3rd District Police Neighborhood
Advisory Board and Operation Weed & Seed.
Neighborhood Spirit
Promote membership and participation in TGENA.
Provide Welcome Packets.
Develop program to support, encourage and increase Block Captains'
effectiveness.
Plan social events to strengthen and broaden neighbor relationships.
Ways and Means
Raise money and secure donations to support TGENA budget by means of
fundraising events, business solicitation and grant applications.
