2005 Grand South Grand House Tour is “Grand Mosaic” of Style

The 2005 Grand South Grand House Tour on Saturday and Sunday April 16 and 17 will showcase the architectural and personal mosaic of styles in the five neighborhoods around Tower Grove Park. On tour this year are a number of fascinating designs in homes.

The 2005 Grand South Grand House Tour features home styles from across the years. Visitors will get to see the inside of homes many only get to admire from the outside. Along with sights to delight the eyes, there will be musical entertainment at various stops along the way. Neighborhoods included in the tour are Compton Heights, Compton Hill Reservoir Square, Shaw, Tower Grove East and Tower Grove Heights.

John Groebl, Grand South Grand House Tour chairman, welcomes everyone to the tour the highlights some of Tower Grove’s most outstanding and interesting homes. “Every year we welcome the chance to share our homes and styles with visitors from across the region. This year’s selection of homes is one of the best we’ve had the pleasure of displaying and we look forward to seeing old and new friends during this celebration of our architectural mosaic.”

The proceeds from the tour will benefit the South Grand Streetscape and fund plants for the recently completed medians along South Grand. Last year’s main beneficiary was the Water Tower Park & Preservation Society, located at South Grand and Russell. The Water Tower will be open during the House Tour for a separate fee. The Water Tower Park & Preservation Society will be holding a raffle for a party for ten to be held at the top of the Water Tower during this year’s Fourth of July celebrations.

The tour runs from 11 A.M. to 5 P.M. both days and starts in the Grand South Grand Business District at the northeast corner of Grand and Juniata. Parking is available in the adjoining lot behind Commerce Bank. A free shuttle offers rides through the complete tour circuit. Tickets are $16 if purchased the day of the tour. The Grand South Grand House Tour is presently in its twelfth year of celebrating the architecture in the neighborhoods surrounding Tower Grove Park.
