Neighborhood Safety Committee

Committee Chair: Jonathan Beck (H:772-3767 W:772-2889 or 369-0875)

We need volunteers! If you would like to help with this committee, please contact the Committee Chair.

Third District Weed & Seed Meetings: 2nd Thursday of each month @ 6:00pm @ Five Star Senior Center @ 2832 Arsenal (Arsenal & Oregon)

All residents are invited to attend the monthly Weed & Seed meetings. Our NSO (Neighborhood Stabilization Officer), Joe Thele, Weed & Seed officers and other police attend these meetings to assist us. These problem solving sessions have proved very effective in ridding our neighborhood of nuisance and criminal behavior. If you have observed problem behaviors on your block, please fill out a Nuisance Identification Program (NIP) log and bring it to this meeting. Please have exact addresses, unit #’s, and as much detail of the activity as possible on the NIP log.

Click here to download the NIP log. Please note: For best results, print this form in Landscape.

Meeting Guidelines:
1) Select ONE person to present the problems on your block. There will be a time limit, so please be concise.
2) Prioritize your issues (#1, #2, etc.). Define each issue as either criminal, safety, nuisance or City services.
3) List these in order of priority on your NIP LOGS. Make DETAILED observations and notes.
4) We will address everyone's #1 problem first. If we have time, we will go to #2. NIP Logs will be turned in and all problems will be reviewed and assigned to the appropriate agency. They will be addressed in order of priority.

If at all possible, we will go over the arrest and calls for service repors for the previous month. We are going to start mapping arrests and problems documented on the NIP Logs. This will help us in establishing priorities and judging our effectiveness.

Weed & Seed Weeding Committee Meeting: 4th Thursday of each month at 10:00am at the Eagleton Federal Building, 18th floor.

Weed & Seed Seeding Committee Meeting: 2nd Tuesday of each month at 9:00am at the Shiloh Education Center, 4373 Finney.

We need a few more residents who are dedicated to crime prevention and nuisance abatement to join this committee. If you would like to be involved with the Safety Committee, contact the Committee Chair.
